Heed The Oracle

Heed The Oracle
$6,800.00
Painted canvas adorned with bullion fringe. Approx. 80” x 60”
The Oracle of Delphi was the high priestess of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi, serving as the most prestigious oracle in ancient Greece from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD. Entranced and intoxicated from noxious vapors rising from geological faults beneath the Temple, The Oracle’s prophecies were notoriously cryptic, offering ambiguous guidance on matters of war, politics, and daily life, heeded fervently by those who regarded her as the supreme spiritual and cultural authority of the times. Inspired by historical depictions, this painted textile piece is a modern interpretation of fanaticism, superstition and adoration.
