Heed the Oracle

Painted canvas, bullion fringe
Approx. 80” x 60”

Inspired by historical depictions of The Oracle of Delphi (Pythia) an ancient Greek high priestess who delivered divine prophecies from Apollo. Legend says Apollo slew the serpent Python to claim the site, and the priestess would fall into a trance, intoxicated by divine fumes, to offer famously ambiguous guidance on matters of war, politics, and daily life.
